Herbert was the volunteer photographer for the 2012 Carefree Christmas Festival, and he took a LOT of really neat photos of the Parade of Lights and the fabulous fireworks that were shot off after the Parade. If you were either on a float of walking in the Parade, your picture will probably be among these. He finally figured out how to get them published (the files were really big) but he had to "dumb them down" somewhat to be accepted. Here are the links to the Parade and fireworks photos. Enjoy!

With the blessing of the Town of Carefree, and of Jo Gemmill, organizer of the Christmas Festival, we are donating these photos, and have given discs with high resolution files of them to Mike at the Carefree UPS Store in the Basha's Center, who was thrilled to participate in our project. They will print any of these photos you would like to buy. The UPS Store does printing on paper, canvas, and vinyl, including wide format printing, and they print business cards, holiday and stationary cards, water bottle/coffee mug labels, and calendars. They can also print and send mass mailings. I realize it's late for Christmas cards, but you can always have them ready to go for next year. The UPS Store does excellent printing. They did my business cards and the 2013 Carefree Desert Gardens Calendars.

 

 

 

A percentage of whatever is purchased using these photos will go to the non-profit of the buyer's choosing. The selections, which were submitted by us, are the Caring Corps., The Cave Creek Museum, The Desert Foothills Land Trust, The Desert Foothills Library, The Fetch Foundation (Marie Peck's animal rescue that also participates in search and rescue operations) and Foothills Animal Rescue. All are local and provide invaluable community services.

 

 

 

Just for fun, Herbert put the fireworks into a YouTube slide show with "Hallelujah" performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They are in a program that moves them slightly in and out, which gives a very cool effect, but they are in the lower resolution required for YouTube.
