The Town of Carefree is sponsoring the 2013 Carefree Desert Gardens Photo Contest featuring the beautiful 4 acre Gardens on Easy Street in downtown Carefree. Donated by Desert Foothills Landscape, it contains spectacular and rare plants. All photos must include the Gardens but may include other features in the surrounding environment. It does not cost anything to enter the contest.

 

 

 

Joe Corpora and I co-chair the Photo Contest. Last spring, many gorgeous photos were submitted and a 2013 calendar was created using some of those photos. A few calendars are still available for sale at Carefree Town Hall, located at 8 Sundial Circle. The cost is $15 plus tax. Winning entries will be part of the 2014 Gardens calendar.

 

 

 

The entry period runs from January 2- February 2, 2013. The deadline for entries is February 2, 2013. The UPS Stores in the Basha's Center, the Albertson's Center, and the Fry's Center, and the Carefree CVS in the Lowe's Center are drop-off points for your photos. Entry forms will be available at these locations or they can be downloaded from the Town of Carefree website at www.carefree.org. The UPS Stores and CVS are capable of printing your photos. Photos may also be submitted at Carefree Town Hall at 8 Sundial Circle, across from the sundial.

 

 

 

Participants may submit up to three 8" x 10" prints. A jury panel of professional photographers will judge the contest. Photographs will be judged on both technical and artistic merit.

The 12 photos chosen by the judges will be mounted on an 11" x 14" mat board for public viewing and voting. Photos will be prominently displayed at the Carefree Festival of Fine Chocolate and Art, February 14-17, the Desert Foothills Library, February 18-24, the Cave Creek Museum, February 25-March 3, and on the Town of Carefree website. The photo receiving the most votes will win the highest honor, the "Juanita and Mark Wdowiak Award". Ballots will be available where the photographs are displayed. Each person may only vote once.

 

 

The Town of Carefree will have first rights to use the photos that are entered, but the photographers will retain ownership of the photos. The photographer will be credited when photos are used for merchandise or marketing.
