Mayor David Schwan presented a plaque to retiring Town Clerk Betsy Wise.  The plaque read, "In grateful appreciation of your contributions to the Foothills Community and the Town of Carefree.  Betsy Wise, Carefree Town Clerk, 1997-2013.  Carefree Town Clerk and Treasurer, Carefree Water Company Clerk and Treasurer, Carefree Cemetery Administrator, Carefree Marketing and Events Coordinator, Unofficial Office Mom.  For your faithful and dedicated service, above and beyond the call of duty.  Carefree and the community are better places because of what you have accomplished."

 

 

 

The Mayor then read a letter to Ms. Wise from ex Mayor Ed Morgan.

 

"Dear Betsy,

Allow me to take delight in your retirement.  It is so well deserved and wonderfully earned. There's not enough time to recall all you did for me while I was in office, but you will certainly be long remembered for your service to Carefree. You were always the one to make others feel important and appreciated while it was you who set the bar so high.

Bobbie and I hope you will come back to visit Arkansas.  While we cannot guarantee you will find diamonds, I can assure you you will find friendship and appreciation for all you have meant to us.

Mayor Schwan announced that there would be a reception held to honor Ms. Wise on June 14th in the Mesquite Room at the Carefree Resort at 5 PM.  The public is invited to attend.
