Carefree Truth

The Council discussed establishing a policy of fee structure for requests for inspection and reproduction of public records. Kandace French reported that Carefree has no policy or cost recovery mechanism for the duplication of information given to the public.  Instituting this policy would streamline the process, as well as keeping a record of requests received from newspapers and the public.  Currently, several hundred copies are dispensed each month.  The most frequently requested documents are being placed on the Town's website, www.carefree.org, for free viewing and downloading.  

 

 

 

Councilman Mike Farrar assumed there was no cost just to view documents.  Mrs. French confirmed that was correct.  Documents are available for free viewing at Town Hall, or may be requested and sent for free electronically via email.

 

 

 

Councilwoman Melissa Price asked if Carefree would be following the best practices of the surrounding communities.  Mrs. French said yes, a survey had been sent to the surrounding communities to ascertain their policies and charges.
