Mayor David Schwan announced that the Carefree Water Company rates for the upcoming fiscal year are rising 2% for the connection fee and 2% for the commodity rate.  For the average user at 11,700 gallons, this will increase costs $1.76 per month.

 

 

 

 

Vice Mayor Les Peterson gave an update on the case of the Black Mountain Sewer Company versus the Boulders Resort, which involves closing and decommissioning the wastewater treatment plant in the Boulders.  The Superior Court judge has issued a ruling, 5 aspects of which were objectionable to the Boulders.  The first objection was that they believed the Superior Court lacked authority to change an order issued by the Arizona Corporation Commission.  The judge deferred answering because he did not have the other 4 objections, which removed the necessity to rule on it.  But the Vice Mayor felt it was a "very positive outcome".
