Gary Neiss explained that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) used to keep a database with the primary contact information in the event of a tripped burglar alarm, and it was a requirement for those with new alarm systems to notify MCSO.  The current standard is for those with alarms to contract with the alarm provider, so the requirement to notify MCSO has been removed from the Carefree Ordinance.  The MCSO Deputy who was present at the meeting agreed that it is a common sense change.
