The Truth About Props 488 & 489

 

 

1. Council members are unpaid citizen volunteers performing community service, not "career politicians".

 

 

2. The only 5 municipalities in Arizona that do not utilize 4 year staggered terms are Carefree, Cave Creek, Jerome, Tombstone, and Hayden. This is the community gold standard for good reason.

 

 

3. Currently, the potential exists for the entire legislative body to be replaced, creating a vast void of experience and knowledge.

 

 

4. Proposition 488 & 489 were citizen driven, not initiated by any members of the Carefree Council.

 

 

5. Term limits would not be eliminated by the passage of Props 488 & 489.

 

 

6. The 1 previous attempt to institute 4 year staggered terms was sabotaged by the notoriously anti-Carefree paper, the Sonoran News.

 

 

7. Those opposing Props 488 & 489 are many of the same consistently negative people who favored the failed recall attempt against our Mayor that was backed by the Sonoran News.
