2014 Photo Contest Public Favorite Winner

Those wishing to enter the 3rd annual Carefree Desert Garden Photo Contest may drop off their photos from January 3rd through January 31st, 2015.  Photos must be taken within the Carefree Desert Garden.  The photos may be in either digital or film format, and up to 3 photos may be entered.  Digital entries may be enhanced.  Please submit an 8" x 10" print, along with your digital images on a disc at 300 dpi, in a jpeg or TIFF format.  Photos with date stamps will be eliminated. 


 

The entry locations are:


•         UPS Store in the Basha's Center, Tom Darlington Dr.

•         UPS Store in the Albertson's Center, Scottsdale Rd.& Carefree Hwy.

•         UPS Store in the Fry's Center, Carefree Hwy, W. of Cave Creek Rd. 

•         CVS photo counter in the Carefree Lowes Center, Carefree Highway & Cave Creek Road.

Each of these locations is capable of printing your photos. Photos may also be dropped off at Carefree Town Hall, located at 8 Sundial Circle.  Entry forms may be obtained at these locations or see attached. They may also be downloaded from the Town of Carefree website at http://www.carefree.org/ or from the CITYSunTimes website at http://news.citysuntimes.com/. 


 

 

 

Finalists will be selected by a panel of professional photographers and awarded prizes donated by businesses in Carefree.  The photos of the finalists will be mounted on an 11" x 14" mat board for public favorite voting.  The photo receiving the most votes from the public will win the highest honor, the "Juanita and Mark Wdowiak Award".  The photos will debut for voting at the Magic Bird Carefree Festival of Fine Chocolate and Fine Art, February 12-15, 2015 then will proceed to the Desert Foothills Library February 17-22, 2015. They will also be available for viewing and voting on the Town of Carefree's website, www.carefree.org.   Awards will be presented during the Sonoran Arts League Fine Art show, at 10 AM, Saturday, March 21st.

 

 

 

 

All the winning photos will be used in the 2016 Carefree Gardens calendar.  2015 calendars are now available at Carefree Town Hall.    


 

 

Photos may be taken at any time of the year, and it does not cost anything to enter the contest.  So grab your camera, visit our beautiful Garden in downtown Carefree, and take some fabulous photos.  Good luck and happy shooting!  We look forward to seeing lots of great entries again this year.

 Carefree Desert Gardens Photo Contest Entry Form


  1. oThere are no time constraints on when the photo can be taken. The contest entry period runs from January 3rd through January 31st, 2015. The deadline for entries is January 31, 2015.

  2. oPhotos may be in either film or digital format. Digital entries may be enhanced. Participants must submit an 8" x 10" print.  Those who submit via digital format will also be required to furnish a CD with their high resolution photo in JPEG or TIFF at 300 dpi.  Photos with date stamps will be automatically rejected by the judges. Submit print photos to the Carefree Desert Gardens Photo Contest drop locations at The UPS Store in the Basha's Center, The UPS Store in the Albertson's Center, or The UPS Store in the Fry's Center, or at the photo counter in CVS in the Carefree Lowes Center. Each of these locations is capable of printing your photos. Entry forms may be obtained at these locations and at Carefree Town Hall, located at 8 Sundial Circle, or downloaded from the Town of Carefree website at http://www.carefree.org/  or from the CITYSunTimes website at www.citysuntimes.com. The Town of Carefree will have first rights to use the photos that are entered, but the photographers will retain ownership of the photos. The photographer will be credited when photos are used for merchandise or marketing.

  3. oA maximum of 3 photos may be entered. An individual may only win once per yearly competition.

  4. oA jury panel of professional photographers will judge the contest. Photographs will be judged on both technical and artistic merit.

  5. oFinalists will be selected and awarded prizes.

  6. oThe photos will be mounted on an 11" x 14" mat board for final judging and public presentation. Photos will be prominently displayed at the Carefree Festival of Fine Chocolate and Fine Art, February 12-15, 2015, at the Desert Foothills Library, February 17-22, 2015 and on the Town of Carefree website for public viewing and voting. The  photo receiving the most votes will win the highest honor, the "Juanita and Mark Wdowiak Award". Ballots will be available where the photographs are displayed. Each person may vote only once. Please do not use social media to solicit votes for photos.

  7. oIt does not cost anything to enter the contest. Complete the entry form, sign it, attach one to the back of each of your print/s, and deliver it in an envelope with your name clearly printed on the outside to one of the drop points. A special box will be available where the entries are accepted.

  8. oThe Town of Carefree reserves the right to use all photos for any purpose.
