Issue #380, March , 2015
Evelyn Johnson, Executive Director of the Cave Creek Museum, was proud to announce that the Museum placed their Carefree, Arizona exhibit on the Arizona Memory Project website as of January 19th, 2015. The Arizona Memory Project is an online collection of photos, documents, maps, and oral histories so people can learn the history.
Mrs. Johnson reported that the Carefree exhibit includes 25 images, as well as maps, writings, and newspaper clippings. Carefree has been home to the famous sundial since 1959, and continues to attract tourists from around the world with its charm. With nearly 4,000 residents, Carefree boasts a beautiful mountain landscape and a rich Sonoran culture. The collection documents the creation of Carefree, the business lives of its founders K.T. Palmer and Tom Darlington, its battle for incorporation, and the everyday activities of its residents from the inception to the present day.
