Carefree Truth

On Memorial Day, 2014, Herbert and I went to the Carefree Desert Garden so he could photograph the crested saguaro in bloom.  A nice family with 2 kids were enjoying the playground set in the Gardens, and I approached them to ask if they wanted some photos of their kids playing.  Herbert turned it into a fun video, and with the permission of their parents, we ran it in Carefree Truth.

One of our readers suggested we meet that family on an annual basis for updated videos of the kids.  I passed the suggestion on to their parents, who loved the idea.  So yesterday, we met them at the playground once again.  As we arrived, 3 other families were also there.  When asked if they would like to participate in the video, all were delighted.  Here, with permission from all the parents, is this year's Memorial Day Carefree playground video.  Enjoy!

This video and this Carefree Truth issue are dedicated to the memory of Ron Clarke, Carefree resident, member of the P&Z Commission, unceasing Champion of the Quest for a Carefree Playground, and dear friend to so many.  We all miss you, Ron, but we know you were looking down and smiling yesterday, watching these kids so enjoying your playground, as you knew they would. 

 

 

 

This is also a perfect Memorial Day tribute to our soldiers who fought and died so people could be free to enjoy simple pleasures we take for granted, like a family outing at a playground.  To those veterans, both living and deceased, we send a heartfelt, "Thank you for your service".  We salute you.
