As most of you are aware, our former Carefree Mayor, David Schwan, was diagnosed with ALS last January, triggering his resignation.  Since receiving that devastating news, the Schwans have used their misfortune to raise awareness and to help fundraise to support ALS research.  Saturday, October 24th, David and Binka participated in the Arizona ALS Association's "ALS Walk" in downtown Scottsdale, having raised $30,318 to date for "David's Carefree Sole Mates Team".  This is a link to an article about some of David and Binka's experiences leading up to and since his diagnosis.  http://www.danieljvance.com/disabledweek729a.html  

 

 

 

Alberto Liani, owner/chef of Alberto Ristoranti, has graciously offered to host a wine tasting evening at his restaurant in the Mariachi Plaza, 7171 E. Cave Creek Road, Carefree, at the corner of Cave Creek Road and Tom Darlington Drive.  

 

 

The wines have been donated by his suppliers and Alberto is donating the food.  Tickets cost $50 per person.  100% of the ticket sales proceeds will be donated to "David's Carefree Sole Mates Team" at the Arizona ALS Association, which will be accepting donations through January, 2016.  The money is used to fund research and to help ALS patients and their families (See the link to the article above).  The event will take place on November 30th, the Monday after Thanksgiving, from 5 PM-7 PM.  Please call (480)488-5800 to pay for and reserve your tickets.

It's one of our favorite restaurants.  I promise you a fun and delicious evening, should you choose to buy tickets and attend.  Binka will be there to greet guests.  David hopes to be there as well, but his ability to attend functions is taken a day at a time.  Herbert and I hope to see you there!
