John Traynor, the primary author of a local email newsletter/editorial, has attempted to manipulate the Carefree residents into an emotional tizzy by making claims about the October 19th Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, a meeting at which he was not present.  Mr. Traynor did not bother to get a copy of the meeting audio to hear what was said.  He simply ran with the most paranoid of assumptions and emailed it to his list, urging his readers to attend the January 11th P&Z meeting to protest.  The Modus Operandi of this Carefree arm of the Sonoran News is to whip residents into fighting mode.  Closed minds and anger are counterproductive to healthy dialogue. 

 

 

 

The last part of the October meeting was a workshop to discuss amending allowed maximum building heights in the Zoning Ordinance.  Workshops are public forums to discuss various options.  As Gary Neiss stated at the October workshop, "This is not written in stone.  It is a starting point, not an ending point, and obviously we will need to have additional dialogue here."   For any of you who are interested in the facts, below is the unedited, in-full audio of the workshop, obtained from the Town on a disc by means of a public record request.  So it would be easily available to all, Herbert  published the workshop portion of the meeting to a link.  https://vimeo.com/153224058?utm_source=email&utm_medium=vimeo-cliptranscode-201504&utm_campaign=29220 

He also scanned and published my copy of the October P&Z packet.  This document is the staff report from which the P&Z Commissioners worked.

Here too is the unedited, in-full video of the January 11th workshop.  I asked Herbert to attend with the camera, knowing Mr. Traynor had sent an incendiary email urging protests.  We wanted to insure that misinformation was not again spread without a factual counter balance.
