Coady and Sorchych, The Community Disorganizers

 

 

A recent Letter to the Editor from Bob Coady in the Sonoran News hit the usual snide note espoused by that publication.  It also reflected a lack of due diligence frequently displayed by both Mr. Coady and the Sonoran News.  The letter sneeringly referred to two restaurant closures in Carefree, and the fact that the Carefree Town Administrator and two Council members were conducting a working lunch in a Cave Creek restaurant.  The Coadys consistently denigrate Carefree, and Don Sorchych is always willing to print venom.   

 

 

Addressing the first issue, two new restaurants will be opening soon in Carefree.  It is frankly doubtful that Mr. Coady is even aware of this.  He disengaged entirely during his term of office once he decided not to run for Council again, canceling all meetings of the Green Initiative Committee he chaired, and refusing to further participate in the Earth Day event already in the works that year.

 

 

Addressing the second issue, Gary Neiss, Melissa Price, and John Crane were lunching with Ed Lewis, who is in the process of resurrecting a high end mixed use project he was proposing to build in downtown Carefree before the financial crash.  They were dining there to show Mr. Lewis an example of the type of restaurant they thought would fit well with his project. 

 

 

Incidentally, the restaurant was Cartwright's.  Under Mr. Coady's letter was, "Editor note: Name of restaurant withheld".  For those of you who may not be aware this, years ago Mr. Sorchych was banned for life from both Cartwright's and Tonto for attacking the restaurants with ludicrous accusations.  Prior to that, Mr. Sorchych had patronized both restaurants regularly, and was in fact eating lunch at Tonto, after calling for a boycott of it and Cartwright's, when he was told to leave and never return.  He then launched personal attacks against the owners, with a grand finale attack on a family member of one of the owners. These malicious rants continued for four weeks. 

 

 

The Sonoran News rabidly supported the failed recall attempt on Carefree Mayor David Schwan.  Then, like now, it acted as a defacto PAC.  Mr. Sorchych pressed hard to seat Bob Coady as Carefree's Mayor. As Mr. Sorchych actively solicits for a candidate to run against Cave Creek Mayor Vincent Francia, keep in mind that any candidate he supports for that position is not necessarily someone who will serve the best interests of Cave Creek.
