Lyn Hitchon
Lyn,
Absolutely correct. Almost dead on 10 years all my 10 smoke alarms started expiring one by one so replaced them all. Joys of home ownership! I did learn to replace my water heaters as close to 10 years as possible and not wait for them to start leaking!!!
Tom Surrency
Hello friends and neighbors,
I met with Gary Neiss, Carefree town administrator, to discuss the hunting situation after the recent events up here in Carefree Highlands.
The hunting regulation changed in July 2011, but AZ Game and Fish said they had recent complaints from residents about excess wildlife.
Thankfully, Gary is on top of this issue. He had the attached relevant papers right on his desk. He is in the process of learning how the town can be exempted from hunting
Gary will put something out on COINS once he has clarified the process. In the meantime, he suggests the following:
1. Post private property signs as required in the attached regulations to make it illegal to hunt with a bow and arrow on your property.
2. Call AZ Game and Fish to voice your concerns. The contact person to call is Pat Croats, 602-359-2413.
3. Spread the word to your neighbors.
Fortunately, the rain this weekend seemed to put a damper on the hunting activity!
Thanks for your concern for our town's residents (human and wildlife),
Phyllis Strupp

Pleasant Valley War

Presenter Lee Hanchett is the author of 6 books on Arizona history. Death by gunshot or hanging visited over 20 men in Arizona Territory's Rim Country between 1884 & 1892. More than 100 families lost sons, fathers or brothers. In part a fight over land & water, but mostly a struggle for domination, the Pleasant Valley War stands as a stark example of vengeance trumping forgiveness, with the participants themselves bearing the true blame. Nobody won & everyone lost something-wealth, respect, & even their lives. The damage done to the families, their allies & even the Territory of Arizona can only be seen clearly now, over a century later. In stark contrast, many along the Rim were good neighbors, helping travelers & each other. Join us & learn the fascinating details. Register: 480-488-2286.
