JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

CAREFREE FESTIVAL OF FINE CHOCOLATES AND FINE ART

*** Weekend Festival Kicks Off on Valentine’s Day**

CAREFREE, ARIZ., (January 11, 2013) – Carefree will get a special Valentine’s Day treat, as the 2nd Annual Carefree Festival of Fine Chocolates and Fine Art takes place over the holiday weekend that is known for love.

The free, family-friendly event will take place in downtown Carefree from noon – 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, and from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 15 – 17.

The festival takes place at 101 Easy Street, at the Carefree Desert Gardens, a four-acre botanical park in downtown Carefree, adjacent to the world-famous Carefree Sundial.

This year’s line-up includes live entertainment, fine art and a culinary marketplace providing easy, one-stop shopping for procrastinating individuals to pick up fine chocolate and gifts for the loved ones in their lives.

Confectioners include W-Xocolati Fine Chocolates, It’s a Devine Bakery and the San Franciso Chocolate Factory and others.

Artists include Launa Stan, Vicki Orrico, Philonese, Chris Heede and many others.

Entertainment includes world champion hoop dancer Brian Hammill of the Hochunk Nation, along with his wife, Toni of the Navajo nation making a guest appearance at 2pm on Sunday, plus western performer, Dakota Kid and pop guitarist Scott Helmer both performing daily, jazz singer Lauren Natalie performing Friday and Sunday and back by popular demand, The Desert Cactus Kickers dancing grannies performing at 1pm on Sunday.

The festival featuring romance, sweet treats and entertainment is part of a new series of events taking place in the town’s new park set against the backdrop of Black Mountain, considered the crown jewel of Carefree.

According to Carefree resident and area businessperson Laura Shutt, the event is ideal for the community. “As a local resident it gives me great pleasure to see how these new events add life and vitality to our close knit community. I love what is happening in downtown Carefree,” Shutt said.

The festival is presented on by Magic Bird Festivals, (www.magicbirdfestivals.com).

According to Roberta Toombs-Rechlin of Magic Bird, “We are very excited to work with the Town of Carefree. The Carefree Town Garden Center will be a beautiful backdrop for these great events. And really, what woman doesn’t love chocolate on Valentine’s Day?”
