(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included.  If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category.  We have a special section for that purpose, and have just added some art as well.  Check out Tom Baker's photos for sale.  He's the photographer who took that gorgeous photo in the Carefree Gardens Photo Contest that was both the judges' first pick and the public favorite.  It's now featured on the Town of Carefree website, and will be the cover of the 2014 Gardens calendar that will be for sale later this summer at Carefree Town Hall.  If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.)  Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

Hello Friends:

We are just 2 weeks from Oktoberfest for Parkinson's and your help is greatly appreciated.  We have a new main food sponsor, Venues Café, located right across the street from Oktoberfest.  The owner, Catherine, was very kind to help us, with the sudden closing of our longtime partner Carefree Station.  Big Thanks to Venues Café for stepping up to save us!!  We also have Culver's supplying the homemade root-beer and ice cream. Thanks so much to George Skoubis for making these arrangements.

Volunteers are needed, if you are interested please notify us by the end of this week.  We need approximately 50 volunteers for the event and still have plenty of spots.  Please email Jessica at jessabee11@gmail.com for details.

If you are unable to volunteer and/or attend Oktoberfest we can still use your assistance.  We would ask that you please send out a notification of this great event to your contacts.  The easiest way is through social media like Facebook and Twitter.  The APDA Arizona Chapter has social media pages and Oktoberfest for Parkinson's has an event page.  If you haven't done so already, please indicate you are "Going" to the event and share the page with your friends.  This only takes less than one minute and can have a major impact on our attendance.  We currently have about 1500 people invited to Oktoberfest through our event page; please help us get to more than 10,000 invites over the next 2 weeks.

Lastly, we have some amazing items to "live" auction at the event such as the autographed electric guitar from Alice Cooper and the "Year of Beauty" from plastic surgeon Dr. Beals of Scottsdale.  We are still in much need of more donations for the silent auction part of our event.  The note below is from Michelle Toft, Sheila DeVault and Terri Hollander.

"We have 2 weeks left till Oktoberfest.  I have reviewed the list of auction item's we have for this year and to put it direct and to the point, we are SERIOUSLY LACKING auction item's.  I have in prior years been responsible for the silent auction and obtaining items.  I am going to help out over the next few weeks to help build up our inventory."

I am asking each and every one of you to get one more thing.  If everyone contributes it will help immensely.  Here a list of services and ideas.

Hi Lyn, Jan Misseri here.  Just would like to put a little something in the great "Carefree Truth".  I am searching for a position as an administrative assistant/customer service provider as well as a pet sitter. Will match prices you are paying now.  I've worked in all of these areas for the past sixteen years and can provide references.  I live in Carefree so I am readily available to all in the area.  Please feel free to contact me either by email - casbin@aol.com or by phone - 480-488-5182.
