Letters from Readers: 10/4/11
Lyn, on another Christmas note, Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church will be helping the Food Bank with their toy drive for local needy kids ( & as strange as it seems, there are lots of needy kids out here). Anyone who wants to donate an unwrapped gift (suitable for infants through teens) can drop it off at the church. I will need to deliver them by Dec. 14.
Thanks,
Jan Dooley
Soroptomist International of Saguaro Foothills is a civic organization of professional women in the Carefree, Cave Creek, and North Scottsdale communities. We are holding our 34th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at Harold's Cave Creek Corral on Tuesday, October 11th from 5 pm to 9 pm.
This event, as well as others organized by SISF, benefits local causes in the Carefree/Cave Creek area. Our "Off to a Good Start" project provides
needy elementary school children with their start-up school supplies. We also sponsor scholarships for women returning to school and re-entering the work force. We recognize high school students who have volunteered in our communities. We supply Holiday gift bags with personal needs, along with adopting several families and making their Christmas wish list a reality. We conduct a self-esteem workshop for elementary and middle school girls, covering topics such as peer pressure, health issues, self esteem, and leadership training.
SISF would appreciate your support with a donation. For your donation, you will receive publicity at the event. We are looking for items appropriate for our Silent Auction as well as for our raffle. Please consider contributing to this worthy cause. The success of our fundraisers relies on the generosity of area businesses.
We would love to have you join us for a delicious spaghetti dinner which includes a salad and garlic bread. Tickets are available for only $12 for adults and $6 for children, making it a very affordable family outing. Please join us for this fun and charitable annual event!
Sincerely,
Betsy Wise
(Lyn's note: Donations may be dropped of to Betsy at Carefree Town Hall, and must be received by 4:30, Thursday, 10/6. Individuals wishing to donate money, or items for the Silent Auction are also appreciated. If you have any questions, Betsy can be reached at Betsy@Carefree.org.)
