Lyn,
At some point people will have to accept the obvious and not complicate things by getting taken in by conspiracy theories. Proposition 407 is a common sense correction that is needed to prevent legal challenges to otherwise unremarkable ballot results. Criticisms of 407 could only indicate ulterior, political motives which are frivolous to the people's business. Vote for Prop 407.

Thanks for the info.
I don't know if you know it, however this Blaine Keith you know is a Retired USMC/NASA man. I retired after 38 years. Fought in Guadalcanal in VMF 121 flying fighter planes, starting with Grumman F4F-4 Wildcats, and spent the next 3 years 9 months fighting island to island. I started flying fighter planes with Joe Foss on Guadalcanal and was on Okinawa ready to attack. The only thing that saved me was the war ended when President Truman dropped a couple nukes on Japan. I left for the Marines the day after I graduated from high school, May 29, 1942. I started flying when I was only 10 years old, flying with my great uncle who was a U.S. Airmail pilot. He kept his airplane on our farm and I would fly with him in his new airplane, at the time called the "Canadian Noorduyn Norseman". It was an airplane he helped develop and test. They built three airplanes for test. When the program was over, he purchased one of the test planes and modified it so it could be used to swoop in low and pick up the mail without having to land. If they had mail on board he would kick that bag out of the trap door, again without landing. I was almost twelve years old when he first let me solo. On that first flight I felt like I was reaching out for the Lord's hand. What a thrill. Later, when I turned 16, I received my official C.A.A. learners permit, made my first official flight and passed that first day to fly solo. One year later, when I turned seventeen, I took my private pilot's test and passed that same day. Mr. Baker was the C.A.A. Inspector and he and my uncle were the best of friends, so he knew I was flying since I was eleven. That is why I passed so fast. The Marines needed pilots badly, so in order to go to Basic Pensacola, FL. Navy/Marines Flight training School I had to change my four rear enlistment to six years. The war ended before my six years were up, so I signed up for six more years and went to War Collage. Graduated as an aeronautical Engineer in 1949, just it time to check out in jet and then to El Toro, CA. Marine Base, and joined VMF-311 as a fighter pilot in F9F-2 Grumman Panther Jets. Then headed to Korea for a year, got my airplane shot up bad and me wounded but I made it back to our K-3 Base and crash landed. I could have gone home but I elected to finish my tour and was back in the air in a new airplane and the wound was not bad enough to ground me. After my year was up, and I put in my one hundred missions I went back to the farm only to find some big money farmers purchased it, my Grandfather was in a home and my Grandmother had passed away. That was a sad reunion. I reported to Cherrypoint, N.C. and was send directly to test pilot school in Pax. River Naval Air Test Pilot school, located in MD. I finished school number one and was selected to be placed on loan to NASA as a designer of space craft and test pilot, and assigned to the forerunner of the Astronaut program. Now that is a whole different story. Your program is "Salute To Veterans"

The Festival of Trees is an event which has taken place during the Carefree Christmas Festival for the last 2 years. This year, the Carefree Resort and Conference Center has offered to help host the event along with Carefree merchants. The event is as follows:
Any merchant or business owner can decorate a tree (either with decorations/gift certificates/merchandise) which is then "sold" in a silent auction. All the proceeds raised are then donated to the charity of your choice. The Resort will host trees for our local non-profits, you may wish to decorate a tree for a nonprofit that you support.
We hope that all trees are available to be viewed by November 15th (the Saturday before Thanksgiving). The Carefree Resort will then host the Grand Auction Results at 4pm on Sunday, December 12th. Winners will be advised and asked to make arrangements to collect their tree.
If you would like to participate in the Festival of Trees, please reply to this email. We will produce a map showing the location of all trees up for auction, so that the public can take part in the event...and come into your business!
A full schedule of the festival events will be emailed later this week. Check out the website www.carefreechristmasfestival.com
Thank you.
