Carefree will be well served by any of the candidates who filed. KGDS!!

Where is the FAR shelter? I have used towels to donate. Corky can’t use them all.

Shirley Arnold

(Lyn's note: It is on Pima, west side of the road, just south of Pinnacle Peak. Thanks, Shirley. Shelters can always use donation of any sort! I responded to Shirley directly also, but included this because I thought others might have the same idea, so now you all know where to take items.)

Thanks Lyn for all you did and do, and the fireworks pix too! They are phenomenal--and so is Herbie!!

Phyllis Strupp

Beautiful pictures. We forgot the fireworks were happening, but it was fun to watch from the other side of the mountain, where we did not see the fireworks per se, but great flashes of gold light outlining the silhouette of the mountain. Just as nice in its own way as what you saw on your side.

Sara

[Response/Comment from Arthur Gimson] If you buy a Carefree Desert Gardens calendar for 2013, you will find that the Christmas Festival is already marked!
(Lyn's note: Yes, and Herbert typed all the Carefree events in by hand, or should I say by two fingers, when he put the 2013 Gardens calendar together on his computer! Some calendars are still available at Carefree Town Hall. They are gorgeous and proceeds support the Town marketing fund.)

Things have been hopping at the Land Trust! We're wrapping up our fall activities, including the Black Mountain Photo Contest, Desert Discovery Day in November, and the always-popular guided hikes to DFLT preserves. There are still two hikes left this year - join us!

We've also been working on a very exciting land conservation project in partnership with the Town of Carefree. This new 40-acre project will protect a sensitive wash and rare archaeological site. While this specific transaction reflects a year of work with the Town and the landowner, the site itself has been a Land Trust priority for more than 20 years. We are working toward a January closing - stay tuned for more details!

All of this conservation effort is only possible because of the generous support of folks like you! Please consider a year-end gift to help us continue to protect the wildlife habitat, scenic views, trails and archaeological sites that make our community special. Help us continue to provide opportunities for children to look for frogs in Cave Creek or hawks in the sky. Your gift will leave a tangible legacy of conservation land for future generations!

With thanks for your generous support,

Sonia Perillo

Executive Director
