(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included.  If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category.  We have a special section for that purpose.  If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.  Here is the link to this week's Pictures of the Week. Enjoy!)

(Lyn's note: This is the direct link for making donations to Binka's page on the David's Team "ALS Walk" fundraiser website. Donations will continue to be accepted through January, 2016.  http://web.alsa.org/site/TR/Walks/Arizona?px=6972161&pg=personal&fr_id=10960#.VezY7HgXzFI. Let's show our appreciation of former Mayor David Schwan, and let's help find a cure for ALS!)

David and I wanted to personally thank Alberto for his generosity in hosting the AZ ALS fundraiser in honor of David.  We thought a plaque would be the perfect remembrance.  Thank you Alberto!

Binka told me you were taking her to Alberto's and that she had a plaque for him.  Every bit of help and support for David and ALS is appreciated.

Dear Carefree Christmas Festival Community:

Once again we pulled off another successful festival, and I measure our success in the faces of the children...those that gasped when they saw the REAL Santa; those so thrilled to be performing on the stage; the lit-up faces of thousands watching the parade.

The vendor market was busy and there were lots of lovely things to buy for Christmas. The entertainment on stage was first-class and all skillfully Emceed by Kevin Glenn.

Thank you Patty and your team for all the organization in bringing another wonderful parade to our town and congratulations to all the parade winners, especially Victoria Cowper and FAR,  your float was simply incredible!

Thank you to everyone for the long hours you ALL put into this event, it's a mammoth task and all of us play a vital role in its success. From the MCSO Posse, to the volunteer parade marshalls; to the Public Works Dept, Key Club, DECA Club and our own Christmas Festival Team....we couldn't do it without you.

Look out for our Thank you Ad in the Arizona Republic on Christmas Day!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

(Lyn's note: See this week's Pictures of the Week for photos of the Sunday morning FAR Pet Parade at the Christmas Festival.  Jo Gemmill led the parade with a dog she and Bob adopted from FAR.)

Special thanks to Jo Gemmill and the crew for making it look seamless to the visitors, and for withstanding the cold weather! Brrr!

Gina Kaegi

Carefree Marketing Director

I wish we could be there for the whole Festival but we enjoyed the preview.  We checked out the decorations in the Garden and then came back to talk with you --- but you and Herbie disappeared!  We will be out that way again and we'll get together.

I do think antlers on a wolf might be fun.

Anita

This is one of the best emails I’ll probably read all year.  Thanks for all your work, not just for this, but for everything you and Herb do . . . AND your babies!  Loved the remark at the Council Meeting about your “wolves” helping with your collection.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  (I’m sending the fireworks video to my peeps for their enjoyment.  It was beautiful!)

Kiwanian Toby Payne invited us to the 63rd Desert Foothills Christmas Pageant, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Carefree, that took place on December 4th, 5th, and 6th out at the Spur Cross Conservation Area, and asked me to take some photos.  Lyn and I went to the Saturday night performance.  It was a well attended and wonderful event.  We both enjoyed it.  The players did a great job, and there was a tremendous amount of effort by a lot of people, both behind the scenes and onstage, that went into this production.  I have compiled a 17-1/2 minute video of the highlights, combining still photos and movie segments.  Toby gave us permission to share it.  We encourage you to share it as well.  Enjoy!  https://vimeo.com/user18676056/review/148491157/888b7df804

John,

Thank you for sending the video.  It is of excellent quality (not the subject, the video.) Please tell the Hitchons that I appreciate it very much.

Thanks, again.

Gobel

Thanks Lyn, appreciate the good word about the Food Bank.
