Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included.  If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category.  We have a special section for that purpose.  If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.  Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

Well, we can chalk up another successful festival....and yes the show did go on!  Despite the rain, hail, thunder and lightening and more RAIN...the rainbow spread across the sky and blue skies and sun followed..with precisely one hour to go before the start of the Parade!

Congratulations to all of us for keeping our cool, improvising and working with the weather conditions and still giving the public a wonderful week end.

Friday and Sunday had much better crowds than in previous years and even though Carefree looked thoroughly drenched and deserted at 4.30pm on Saturday night...by 6pm the crowds were all back lining the streets.  I think we only had 3 no-shows for the parade and all our favorites were there.  Congrats to Foothills Animal Rescue for their magnificent float and winning a trophy!  Even Glenn got to see "most" of the Parade this year...I have the photo to prove it :-)

Rave reviews all weekend about the entertainment.  The snow was a challenge after the downpour, but even closing the kids zone early Saturday night didn't prevent hundreds of visits to Santa and partying at the Pavilion.

I am so thankful to work with the best people in town, we have THE BEST team which is why our festival rocks!

Dear Lyn,

I wanted to write a huge THANK YOU to all the folks who came out and volunteered for and/or ran the Luminaria Run!  We had about 300 runners and walkers this year and the event went flawlessly thanks to our Luminaria Crews and on-site volunteers.

Thank you to the teens from Bella Vista National Honor Society, Pinnacle High School National Honor Society, the luminaria crew from Black Mountain Elementary School (led by teacher Gina Finley), Jennifer Dobbs (heading two luminaria crews), The Doug Edwards family (for their luminaria crew), thanks to the volunteers from Racelab. Thank you too to Sharon LaRue, Rochelle Monson, Charlie & Nina Spitzer (who have volunteered EVERY year of the race), Korina Riggin, Katie Camp, Lisa Nevitt, Alea Becwar, Julie Becwar, Rochelle Monson, Candace Duncan, the Shirley family, Angela Nauroth and Johann Warnholtz (of Unleashed Events) who made the race run smoothly.

Thank you to our fabulous sponsors: Black Mountain Fitness, Roadrunner Sports, Core Fitness, Wilhelm Automotive (who has sponsored from day 1) and Foothills Physical Therapy. Thank you to our in-kind sponsors, The Home Depot, Indian Village (sponsor since year 1), Big Earl’s Greasy Eats (sponsor since year 1) , Papa John’s Pizza, Carefree Highway and Watermill Express (sponsor since year 1).

And last, but not least. THANK YOU to the folks at the Town of Carefree and especially the great staff at Cave Creek Regional Park. You all made the event beautiful.

It takes a village and we have a wonderful village that helps put on this incredible event each year. THANK YOU to the hundreds of runners and walkers that came out and enjoyed a beautiful night for a run—all while raising funds to benefit Desert Foothills Theater, a program of the Foothills Community Foundation.

Sincerely,
Meribeth Reeves
