CAREFREE TRUTH
Letters from Readers: 12/28/12
Thanks Lyn, a fun opportunity!
Sara
(Lyn's note: Sara refers to using Herbert's photos for printed material to benefit a local non-profit, available at the UPS Store in Carefree.)
I agree that you & Herbie contribute a lot to the community - glad to be your friend.
Lea
(Lyn's note: Glad to be your friend too, Lea. We are both so blessed to have so many truly good friends. Love you all, my dear girlfriends!)
Dear Lyn, it was so good to see you last week. Carefree looks great and so do you. Carefree Truth is a very special and appreciated means of bringing a community together AND keeping an old fan informed.
Best to you and Herbie.
KGDS!!
Ed Morgan
(Lyn's note: Always a treat to see you back in Carefree for a visit, Ed. You know how I love hugging handsome men!)
The road construction project on Scottsdale Road just to the south of Pinnacle Peak has been causing a lot of traffic problems. I spoke with the President and the Project Manager for that construction site from Hunter Construction, the company doing the construction project, to find out more about is happening there. I asked them the purpose of this construction, since there has been very little communication regarding this, and, just as important, when would this construction be finished. Here is what they said.
The land on the southeast corner of this intersection will be developed further. A wash which handles water run-off from heavy rains runs diagonally across the northern portion this property, with the excess water flowing from the northeast and running towards the southwest. Culverts were previously placed under Pinnacle Peak to handle this run-off coming from the northeast and in this new construction culverts will be placed under Scottsdale Road so the water run-off doesn’t have to flow over and potentially close Scottsdale Road. In addition, while putting in these new drainage culverts, they will be replacing all of the utility lines (water, sewer, electric and gas) that are under Scottsdale Road at that location.
Their schedule calls for the project to be completed by July of 2013, and they are currently running two weeks ahead of schedule. Soon they will be starting the excavation across Scottsdale Road, and this will, regretfully, intensify traffic blockage and delays. They suggested that Carefree residents should consider using Pima Road or an alternate route for their north-south travel whenever possible.
