VYT is truly a wonderful organization and Hope’s commitment to the organization is heartwarming. But please do not forget that in this very community we have an award-winning theater that has been presenting work here for over 35 years (longer than both Carefree and Cave Creek have been incorporated).  Two out of the last three years, Desert Foothills Theater has won ariZoni Awards (local Tony awards with over 40 theaters participating and over 150 performances evaluated) for BEST OVERALL PRODUCTION.  We produce four adult mainstage and two youth theater main stage productions each year.

Our youth theater program offers extensive opportunities for children in Carefree, Cave Creek, North Scottsdale, North Phoenix and beyond to participate in main stage productions or to enhance their performing techniques through our theater classes at our Conservatory of Performing Arts in the FCF-Holland Community Center (we offer adult classes as well). 

In addition, we provide a series of after-school classes in CCUSD for students at Black Mountain Elementary School, Desert Willow Elementary School, Horseshoe Trails Elementary School and Sonoran Trails Middle School.  We will be presenting an in-school two-week theater intensive program to all elementary students at Foothills Academy Elementary Prep this spring.  Our musical theater summer camp, now in its fourth year is a two-week, full-day camp in which students create a production from the ground up including work on sets, costumes, props, etc. Last year we had hundreds of students participate in these programs and provided theater performances to over 500 CCUSD school children.

If the town business folk keep doing what they are doing and working so hard to bring people up, it can’t help but help the town’s bottom line.  That Carefree Christmas Festival is wonderful and it is heartwarming to see so many FAMILIES up in town.

Your ability to explain complex issues in a clear, concise manner to a diverse readership is really, really valuable.  Best of all, Carefree Truth comes across as fair, honest, and reliable.  I assume the snarky comments, deceptive reporting, and shallow commentary in both the Sonoran News and Carefree Matters cost them credibility.
