Hi Lyn,

A.J. and I just read this. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU for printing the TRUTH!!!!  We were happy to read this and forward it on!  Even though A.J.'s protests were a little over a year ago, as a mother, I know Don's remarks are still fresh in her mind.  It's nice to know people in the Cave Creek / Carefree community still stand up for what is right!

Thanks again,

Colleen Davis

(Lyn's note: A.J. Davis is the girl who organized the protests against the Sonoran News last winter, and was repeatedly viciously attacked in print by Don Sorchych for exercising her 1st Amendment rights.)

Lyn- this is a letter to the editor of Carefree Truth.  I’m also sending it to the Republic, the S/N and the Foothills Focus.

To the Editor,

The Town of Carefree gratefully acknowledges the recent work and service of Chief John Kraetz and Captain Ryan Travis of Rural Metro.  They are to be commended!

In the Fall of 2010 Chief Kraetz and Captain Travis became aware of a possible Grant available to the Carefree Fire Department.  They prepared the application for the Grant, wrote the narrative for the Grant and prepared the technical description of equipment to be purchased with the Grant.

Because of their work Carefree will receive $92,000 in new communication equipment.  These new radios will improve communications with neighboring fire departments and increase the safety of our firefighters.

Our thanks to Chief Kraetz, Captain Travis and Rural Metro for this accomplishment!

Sincerely,

Mayor David Schwan

Vice Mayor Glenn Miller

Councilmember Bob Coady

Councilmember Bob Gemmill

Councilmember Peter Koteas

Councilmember Doug Stavoe

Councilmember Susan Vanik

I note that in the same issue of the Sonoran News there was a letter written by the chronically angry John Traynor.  Among his complaints was an expression of outrage because during an emergency on his property, the firemen parked their truck across the entrance to his driveway.    I was impressed that the fire department arrived on the scene before the property owner even knew there was a problem.   Personally, if emergency responders are needed at my house, I'm just grateful for their help and I don't care where they park.

You are right, Lyn....I do think Don S.'s influence is waning rapidly and you are one of the reasons for that with Carefree Truth. There are a lot of smart people here and we can see right through Don, his motives and his self-serving agenda.

Don J.

Excellent, and this 'guy' never gives up, however eventually the lack of advertising by intelligent business owners and citizens will 'do him in'.  Larry H.

Lyn,

We have been a merchant in Carefree for 10 years.  We and other shop owners remember, and not fondly the blow up Christmas displays in the gardens that represented Christmas in Carefree!  Anyone looking at our town today would think they are in a winter wonderland.  Our festival has grown from a grass roots event to a major, state known, celebration.  I have been a minor member on the committee from the beginning; however, I would like to take a moment to give a standing ovation and “thank you” Jo Gemmill for her tenacious leadership.   Without her exacting efforts our Festival would not be the festival it is today.  This year she raised $42,000.00, single handily.  Because of this uncompromising effort we have added fireworks to our extravaganza.  Her tireless, altruistic, efforts to develop and grow this festival should be applauded by businesses and residents as well.  When you run into Jo, (you won’t find her in her shop) she is out and about putting the finishing touches on this wonderful event; take a moment to thank her for her remarkable efforts.

Also, Councilman Miller has been our Christmas elf, for three years, doing anything that needed to be done, shoveling lifting, lighting………… on and on.  Many thanks to them both!
