Excellent. Carefree is sure on the right track. I can hardly wait to see the town again! Great job!

Lyn,
Thank you for sharing reader comments like the one below.
Through Peter's involvement with Desert Foothills Theatre over the past year, I have learned that is a rewarding presence in our community for all ages, both on stage and in the audience.
Also, Jo Gemmill did a fantastic job in organizing the Christmas celebration that brought joy and energy to Carefree and visitors.
Happy New Year,
Phyllis

Lyn, ahh, the tyranny of data. Try to hide it and the darn stuff just finds all sorts of ways to escape and become known . . . usually to the chagrin and/or detriment of those who tried to hide or shape it.
Plus: "Those analysts who have not applied these techniques to real situations are extremely optimistic about their results."
In my consulting practice I have worked with a number of organizations (including cities) which have various forms of "non-traditional" work hours: 9 days, ~9 hours per day in two weeks for 80 hours, and 4 10 hour days each week are the usual alternatives for those with roles similar to our town staff. The kink in most of these options is that the work comes at the staff over five days each week, usually resulting in the formal schedule gradually evolving to an informal schedule much more aligned with the 5 day per week, traditional work schedule. The non-traditional schedules work better with larger staffs, allowing smoothing of the daily on-duty time for each function.

Lyn,
Thanks again for a clearly written 'heads up' on the latest emanating from either Her or His Wretchedness.
This waywardness continues to surprise and amuse. I mean, can you just hear extraterrestrials commenting on Carefree’s finances: ‘Hey, wuzzamadda wit-chews people? You gotta buncha goldbrickin’ goombas runnin’ city hall already?
To the contrary, as you so eloquently have pointed out. This is exactly the problem with unaccountable, and deliberately frivolous ad-hoc opinions!
Besides, what would happen to everyone’s workload should the Arizona Flim-Flam-binis decide to launch another recall fiasco with city workloads burdened by a 4 day work week? Mayor Schwan, and council people Vanik, Miller and Gemmill are wise to protect the human assets we really need to run this town.
Alex Wilson,
Carefree
This is really well researched. A+ and a big gold star! "One difference between Genius & Stupidity is that Genius has its limits."-Woody Page

Very interesting. I did think that "like other towns and cities" was an oddly leading phrase.
Thanks.
