Letters from Readers: 2/15/13
Dear Lyn:
The “Meet the Candidates Night” was a great success and you are to be commended for pulling this citizen driven program together. Well done. A big thank you is also in order to the Carefree Resort, Tim Reilly, and the City Sun Times and the panel of questioners.
It was an honor to be able to participate in a forum with such a strong slate of candidates.
Best regards,
John Crane
Greetings Lyn.
First off, my thanks to you and Carefree Truth for organizing last night's event. It was well organized and the questions were well constructed. I am honored to have had the opportunity to present my perspective on how we can both sustain and improve our Carefree.
I do want to offer a point of clarification on my comments on the implementation of a rigorous, specific, and measurable plan to undertake economic development.
I have carefully reviewed General Plan 2030. It is a high level and comprehensive analysis of major areas of focus as we go forward. What I do propose is the creation of a very specific action plan focused solely on business development to get economic development going immediately.
Pages 67 and 68 of the plan reference the need to encourage bringing new business to our Carefree. I intend to focus on this operational element to make a desire a reality.
As I mentioned last night, we need to specifically define what we mean when we say, "bring businesses to Carefree"…. For example, what is the business type mix? How many do we desire from the mix? How will we bring them here? What is the timeline to accomplish this objective? and Who needs to be involved? Answering these questions, I believe, is critical. If anyone has any questions, please call me on my cell phone at 814 881 7020.
Thanks again Lyn.

Lyn:
The Candidates Forum was a resounding success. The attendance was great considering the Town is in such good shape financially.
The questions were well thought out, the candidates' answers were actually answers to the questions, and not speeches skirting the question.
It was worth being there just to see Councilman Glen Miller in a suit.
Well Done on all fronts,
Joseph Corpora
