CAREFREE TRUTH
CAREFREE TRUTH
Letters from Readers: 2/5/13
I love Carefree's ongoing efforts for acquisition of open-space land. Bravo. I think this is a fabulous project. I can imagine it's complex and challenging.
Kathy Riemer
(Lyn's note: A tremendous amount of time and effort has gone into this project. Thanks again to the Carefree staff, and particularly Gary Neiss, and to the Desert Foothills Landtrust, for making this happen.)
Wonderful fireworks slideshow!
Sara
Lyn,
Thanks for your news email. Do not know that these photos would fit your "beautiful picture" feature but I think it is relevant to the issue of any hunting in our communities.
I do not know the whole story but the police did have several hunters stopped and questioned in Meats and Bounds area of Carefree Sunday, January 20. If hunting is permitted we might all have to witness the cruelty as we have. These photos were taken several years ago outside our window.
We moved here 40 years ago because we enjoyed the wild life and we have not noticed a change. Hopefully everyone who chooses to move to our beautiful area will also appreciate the wild nature.
Hunting can also be very dangerous to humans that enjoy walking in the desert around us.
Ned Clem
(Lyn's note: Ned's 2 photos are attached. They depict a deer that had been shot with an arrow and still had it imbedded in it's rump.)
Gary wants to get emails from residents expressing their concerns about hunting in Carefree. He sent this email to several of us up here.
Thanks,
Phyllis
Thank you for your emails.
Please share with your neighbors my email address (gary@carefree.org) so I can include their experiences in the Town’s petition to Game and Fish to close this sector of the local hunting unit.
Your input is critical to our success. Please ask you neighbors to send these emails within the next week (no later than February 8th).
I greatly appreciate all your assistance and input. I will let you know when the hearing is scheduled with Game and Fish. We will also need neighbors present at this hearing to support the Town in our presentation.
Collectively we can make a difference!
Best regards,
Gary Neiss
Town Administrator
