CAREFREE/CAVE CREEK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

BUSINESS EXPO

TUESDAY, MARCH 26

 

CAREFREE-CAVE CREEK, Ariz., (March 19, 2013) -- The Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce invites the public to their annual Business Expo taking place from 2 – 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 in the Tohono Ballroom at el Pedregal, 34505 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale.

More than 50 local businesses and non-profit organizations will be represented, with well-known guest speakers appearing throughout the event.

 

Keynote speaker, digital marketing expert Ron Cates of Constant Contact kicks off the expo and will discuss email marketing at 2 p.m., with doors to the business displays opening at 3 p.m.

 

Other speakers include Shawn Pfunder of Go Daddy who will discuss online marketing at 3:30 p.m., and Western history expert and True West Magazine publisher, Bob Boze Bell, who will appear to sign books and autographs at 4:30 p.m.

 

According to Patty Villeneuve, Chamber executive director, “We can’t think of a more relevant event for new residents, long-time locals and others to learn more about the creative and fast-expanding business communities of the Cave Creek and Carefree. Our well respected guest speakers round out the event and will provide entertaining, informative business tips that nearly everyone can use. ”

Crossing Arizona

Monday, April 9 ● 2-3:30pm

 

 

Presenter Lee Hanchett is the author of 6 books on Arizona history. When tourists visit almost any city in Arizona, they note how new everything looks. Not many realize that Spanish exploration in this region began eighty years before the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts! How many would guess that a presidio captain led over two hundred Mexican peasants from deep in Sonora, Mexico to San Francisco thirty years before Lewis and Clarke began their search for the Northwest Passage? Join us for an educational and entertaining time, as he relates stories from territorial days. Limited seating.

Chair Yoga

techniques from a chair?-a real plus if you have difficulty getting up & down off the floor. Chair yoga is for everyone. Regardless if you've done yoga before, no matter your fitness level or condition, you can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of each posture. Presentations & discussions will feature topics designed to inspire & motivate both professionals & amateurs, & to enhance writing skills in any genre. Researching Your Family Tree

Fridays, April 5-26 ● 11-Noon

(Note: our printed brochure mistakenly lists "Tuesdays", with the correct dates as above, which are Fridays) Not sure where to start? This course is for you. Learn basic genealogical research techniques to help you learn about your ancestors. This introductory research course includes lectures, assignments and Q&A time. Medical Qi Gong Series

Qi Gong/Tai Chi Easy

Tai Chi and Qi Gong exercise can be a powerful booster for your health and well-being. Qi Gong's gentle routine synchronizes slow movements with deep breathing to stimulate your body's natural energy and healing abilities. Tai Chi routine will improve mind and body connection, strengthening and improving balance. Wear loose clothing & sneakers. Class size limited to 15, for individual attention. Mindfulness Meditation

Friday, April 12 ● 2-4pm

 

A workshop to tap your natural healing power through the gentle guidance of Bhante Sujatha, an ordained Buddhist monk for 30 years. Activities will include:

  1. The inner process of breathing and meditation to create a safe, quiet, and calm state of mind

  2. Centering to align mind, body and spirit to attain inner peace

  3. Accessing inner guidance for health, relationships and careers

  4. Guidance practice ('Vipassana') and an interactive discussion

Fran Rosenthal, Music Enthusiast, will educate & entertain, as she takes us on a tour of music throughout our history. Note a topic change: because a large group of attendees in March wished to continue pursuing the wonders of Romantic Classical Music, the April class will be "So Much More Romantic Music to Play and Discuss...Brahms, Schumann, Bruch, Dvorak, Mahler, Lalo and Verdi! Something for everybody!!!  Even Richard Rogers and Leonard Bernstein!!!!!!" (our April brochure went to print before this change was made; in May, we'll be taking up "All that Jazz!" A look at the many directions Jazz Music has taken over the years)

Got Conflict? Five Styles for Responding to Conflict

Thursday, April 25 ●

Most people are comfortable using one or two strategies for responding to conflict. However, no one strategy is effective in every situation. You'll be more successful in dealing with conflict when you learn to master all five strategies, enhance your ability to assess which style is most useful in each conflict situation, and consciously choose the best response. Susan Bulfinch, J.D., will present an overview, and facilitate the group in a break-out session where you'll have the opportunity to work with styles. Limited seating.
