Kiwanis Club of Carefree Flea Market 

& Marketplace

Does NASCAR memorabilia get your engine revving? Does the thought of adding a vintage Avon perfume bottle (or two, or three) to your collection sound sweet?


There are many popular collectibles at the upcoming Carefree Kiwanis Flea Market and Marketplace on Saturday, March 8, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m, in addition to the usual vast array of furnishings, electronics, exercise equipment and housewares. 


You can treasure hunt at both the Flea Market and Marketplace on March 8, because the Marketplace is located at 7171 Cave Creek Road, Carefree, Arizona 85377, across the parking lot from the Flea Market. Look for the large Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace signs.


The Carefree Kiwanis Flea Market is located at Dave Anderson Memorial Building, 7177 E. Ed Everett Way in Carefree, Arizona 85377 (southwest corner of Tom Darlington and Cave Creek Road).


Cash, credit cards and checks (with I.D.) will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Youth Programs of Kiwanis Club of Carefree, a 501.c3 organization. Many crafts made today are based on ones from the past. During this hands-on program Museum guests learn how crafts were done in the early days of Cave Creek and how they have changed in the 21st century. You might be surprised what stayed the same and what changed. Learn about wood crafting, quilting, calligraphy and other crafts still practiced today. All ages are welcome although children younger than 6 may find some of the hands-on activities difficult. Registration is requested

The National Association of Corporate Directors(NACD) is pleased to announce that David Karsten of Cave Creek, Arizona has become an NACD Fellow, the highest level of credentialing for corporate directors and corporate governance professionals.

Fine Art EXPO


 

10th Annual Arizona Fine Art EXPO

The Arizona Fine Art EXPO unites an impressive gathering of 100 nationally acclaimed and award-winning artists that passionately produce art in studios and cabanas. Artists can be seen painting in all mediums, sketching in pen & ink, pastels and pencil, assembling mosaics, sculpting clay, carving wood, composing mixed media on canvas, welding, designing and sculpting jewelry. Outside, artists can be found working in outdoor cabanas carving alabaster, etching stone, welding metal, steel and copper, patina finishing, wood carving and more! The quaint Café de Expo offers scrumptious breakfasts, snacks and lunch in the afternoon. Enjoy eating indoors, surrounded by working artists, or sit outdoors under the festive umbrellas and listen to the whispering sounds of water fountains in the Sculpture Garden for added pleasure.

Salute to our Members




Great turn out for the Ribbon Cutting for Tech 4 Life and Salute to our Members!!  Everyone had a great time!  There was great food (Thanks to Bad Donkey and Papa John's Pizza), great drink (Thanks to Vino 100 and Saddlecreek Coffee Company) and some really great raffle prizes!! 

Thank you to John Alexander of the Foothills Focus for donating his prize (the 50/50) back to the Chamber!!  We have the best community!!



THE ARIZONA MUSICFEST SCHOLARSHIP


The Arizona Musicfest Scholarship Decision Committee seeks applications from deserving, highly qualified Arizona high school seniors who will graduate during spring or summer of 2014, and enroll in a college-level music performance program prior to December 31, 2014.


The Scholarship award will be $2,500.00. It will be paid directly by Arizona Musicfest to the recipient's school. The winning applicant will also be considered for additional awards for the remaining three years of college.


Applications can be downloaded now at www.azmusicfest.org. The application deadline is April 7, 2014, at midnight. The winner will be announced on May 1, 2014.

Kiwanis Club of Carefree

Art Enrichment Internship

Application deadline: Wednesday, April 2, 2014


The Kiwanis Club of Carefree Art Enrichment Internship encourages the development of outstanding students from the Desert Foothills area who excel in the visual arts fields. The program is now in its eleventh year. Funding for the program is provided through the generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree.


Six to eight students will be selected to take the course of their choice this summer at the nationally renowned Scottsdale Artists' School located in downtown Scottsdale.  Information about the school can be found on its website:  www.scottsdaleartschool.org   


The Internships must be used during June or July of 2014. The internship funds will be sent directly to the Scottsdale Artists' School to cover tuition costs.

Foothills Caring Corps Hosts

“Putt for the Putt Putt”

 

An 18-Hole Golf Putting Tournament

Benefitting Transportation Programs for the Elderly

 

The Foothills Caring Corps is hosting an 18-Hole golf putting tournament on Friday, April 4, 2014. The “Putt for the Putt Putt” will take place at the Tonto Verde Golf Club, 18401 E. El Circulo Drive in Rio Verde, and will support fundraising efforts for elderly transportation programs.

 

Golf enthusiasts are encouraged to use their putters for a good cause and join in the fun, where there will be the opportunity to win $5000. The event is limited to 72 players and costs $75 per person.  Interested parties may register after March 1. Those that do not have a foursome group may sign up as a single, twosome, or threesome.

 

Sponsorship packages are still available and start at $300. Title sponsorship is $5000, and includes the display of the company banner/logo at the course entrance. Title sponsors will also receive formal recognition and acknowledgement at the cocktail reception, as well as a reserved table for eight.

 

Attendees will play on an 18-hole putting green with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m., and a shotgun start at 2:15 p.m. For those that would like to receive a lunch before the event, the cost is an additional $20. There will be an evening reception following the event.

A portion of tournament proceeds will benefit the Caring Corps numerous programs including medical appointment and van transportation, and mobile meal delivery for the elderly.

Most importantly, your participation helps to ensure we can provide much-needed programs for our elderly neighbors in the community,” said Debbra Determan, Executive Director of the Foothills Caring Corps.

he Foothills Caring Corps is a nonprofit organization helping older adults and persons with handicapping conditions to remain living independently. Through a force of volunteers the organization delivers services and support that provide access to basic needs such as food, medical care, and to activities that promote physical, mental and emotional health.
