Letters from Readers: 4/19/13
(Lyn's note: Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week. Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included. If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category. If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.

Our website is overwhelmed by donations. Keep trying. THANK YOU.

(Lyn's note: The Melanie plea was also publicized in several newspapers. FAR is going to great lengths to get this dog the help she needs.)
How cool that people are helping out.
Laurie P.
(Lyn's note: Thanks to the generosity of the many willing donors, Melanie has had her surgery. But there are so many more dogs and cats that need help, so keep our local animal rescues in mind when contemplating a donation to a non-profit organization. They do a world of good for our furry friends. And please consider adoption when looking for your next pet. Laurie adopts and so do we.)
Hi Lyn,
Even William Tell had to "own up" to the problem of practicing his passion in town.
Herbie N.
Hi Lyn,
It was great seeing you and Herbie at the Lariat Room Carefree Resort Sunday Brunch this past Sunday. It was our second Sunday in a row because, as you know, they have now extended their tremendous brunch another hour until 12:00 noon, and one may choose from their breakfast menu, their brunch, or their lunch menu, which is quite an offering. We frequent most all of the restaurants in our community on a regular basis, and have been pleasantly surprised at the great improvement in the food and service at the Resort. It has always been a fabulous facility but the restaurant had really gone down hill under the previous ownership. Edwin Leslie, the current general manager, has done a fabulous job bringing the Lariat to a really first class dining experience. We have had several great dinners there. In fact, we are taking guests there tonight.
We realize you cannot single out a particular business to endorse, but it occurred to us that there are still many of our citizens who obviously know about the Carefree Station, the Trattoria Romana, and our other great local restaurants, but are not as familiar or even aware that the Lariat at the Resort is another great restaurant choice that is catering to our local community. As you know, they have an excellent Seafood Buffet the first Friday evening of every month; a Prime Rib special on Saturday evenings; and even a special Hamburger night on Thursdays.
Therefore, we thought we would send you a note that you could pass on to your readers. It’s also a great way to support Carefree. The Resort is the largest provider of sales tax revenue, so critically important to our town, and it should be in the interest of all our citizens to support them. Plus, they’ll enjoy some great food and service in the process.
Lloyd & Donna Meyer
(Lyn's note: We also frequent the restaurants in Carefree. I inherited my Mom's total lack of domesticity gene. They knew each other for 2 weeks before they were married. The first morning, Mom said to Daddy, "Do you know how to make breakfast, or what kind of sandwich would you like?" That gene.
We love the Lariat Room at the Resort, and have frequently run into Donna and Lloyd there.)
Thanks Lyn~ Appreciate all you and Herbie do for Carefree!

How nice for our two sister towns to work together!

(Lyn's note: Steve is responding to the jointly sponsored Carefree/Cave Creek Earth Day event being held in the Carefree Gardens. Steve and his son Bryan own Let There Be Light, located in Carefree. They are responsible for the LED lighting in the Gardens and on the sundial, as well as other landscape lighting within the Town and around the area, some of which they donated.
As they burn out, we are replacing light bulbs in our house with LEDs from Let There Be Light, since they also handle indoor lighting, and Bryan lit the steel sculptures going up our driveway.
I heartily echo Steve's sentiments. It is great to see our 2 wonderful towns working together.)
Sounds like a wonderful event.
Herbie N.
(Lyn's note: We plan to be there to get some photos, which will be published in an upcoming CFT Pictures of the Week. We're looking forward to it and hope to see you there!)
