A Special Note from Mayor Les Peterson...
Our former Mayor David Schwan was first and foremost our friend, and he was also the conceptual and strategic leader of many of the Town’s initiatives which are currently taking place throughout the downtown area. The finality of David’s passing leaves an empty hole in all of our hearts. The Town Staff, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Town Council would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of the people from throughout the Foothills Community who joined us on April 16, 2016 to celebrate David's life. The outpouring of sympathy and condolences expressed were seen through the music played, personal speeches and the long journey's traveled to pay respects to David's family and wife Binka. Special thank you to Alberto Ristorante, Carefree Bistro, Harold's, Venues Cafe and the Desert Hills Presbyterian Church volunteers for providing the food for the reception, all in memory of David. Thank you, and God bless Binka and David.

I am so pleased to hear that Harry Vardakis has been awarded the 2016 Spirit of Carefree Award. My late husband, last year’s award winner, thought very highly of this fine member of the Carefree community.
Binka Schwan
Lyn, I support Mayor Les Peterson, and will work to get him elected.

Dear Loyal Patients and Community Members,
In November of last year a member of the Dental Studio 101
family was rocked by a serious diagnosis of a rare sinus cancer. Austin Peck is
the son of my partner Mark Peck, a Cave Creek local and a lifelong friend of
mine. Austin has truly been an inspiration to everyone that surrounds him as he
battles this cancer. It has been a real
fight. So many of you have inquired about Austin and sent your love and support
to his family. The love from our community has been tremendous. On Saturday May 14 from 1-5pm at the
Roadhouse Cave Creek there will be a fundraiser to raise money for Austin and
his family. 100% of the money raised will go to Austin to help cover his extraordinary
medical expenses and everyday needs. Attached
is the information for the fundraiser. This is a wonderful group of people and will
be a fabulous event. Please consider attending or supporting a great cause.
Many Thanks,
Dr. Megan Boyle

Austin was diagnosed in November with Sino Nasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma (SNUC), a rare and extremely aggressive cancer. The treatment plan required Austin and his wife Erin, to relocate to Southern California to undergo seven weeks of daily Proton Radiation therapy. Unfortunately his daughters, (Marley & Harper), had to stay back in Arizona with family during this ordeal. Austin has demonstrated remarkable strength and courage throughout his daily treatments, the pain and effects of radiation, and, of course, the separation from his precious girls. He has truly been an inspiration to all that know and love him. He has responded remarkably to his initial treatment. Thankfully, this first phase of treatment is over and he will be returning to Arizona to continue the fight with a new round of chemo therapy at the Mayo Clinic. Please help us make sure that the only thing Austin and his family needs to concern themselves with is beating this insidious disease and living a long , happy happy and healthy life with his family and the people who love him.
We are thankfully accepting any donation (products or services) that we can raffle at the fundraiser. Monetary donations are also being accepted.
Please visit our Go Fund Me account at www.gofundme.com/austinpeck for monetary donations to help out Austin & his family. Also if you are able to donate an item towards the silent auction or raffle, please contact Mike Shannon directly at: 602-722-2023, mshannon@brede.com
