Just wanted to let your readers know that the DFT Gecko Teatro Summer Theater camp is going on right now with 50 fabulous kids rehearsing furiously for their performance scheduled for June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center. Desert Foothills Theater is a program of the Foothills Community Foundation.

Zoom! is an updated version of the Tortoise and the Hare. Harvey Hare is running for mayor, but he never does anything without cheating. When he frames his competition, Toby Tortoise stands up to him and finds himself challenged to a race. We all know how the story ends, but it’s what happens along the way that makes this fun. Throw in a band of Merry squirrels, a group of enterprising children and a pair of bungling bad guys and you have the makings for a fun evening of theater.

This is great for the whole family. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for kids and are available online at http://www.desertfoothillstheater.com OR at the door. General admission, so arrive early.
