(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included. If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category. We have a special section for that purpose, and have just added some art as well. Check out Tom Baker's photos for sale. He's the photographer who took that gorgeous photo in the Carefree Gardens Photo Contest that was both the judges' first pick and the public favorite. It's now featured on the Town of Carefree website, and will be the cover of the 2014 Gardens calendar that will be for sale later this summer at Carefree Town Hall. If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.) Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

(Lyn's note:) My apology to Jane Ceasor, whose ad turned into a wonky psychedelic mess in last week's ads. I attempted to resize it to make the text larger, and it apparently did not like my doing that.)
Every Carefree citizen is affected by decisions made at the Town Council Meetings, yet very few residents attend these meetings.
There are financial issues under consideration by the Town Council right now that will permanently define and potentially re-define the Town’s image. It is more important than ever that all Carefree residents know what the Mayor, Vice Mayor and Town Council Members are planning – e.g., how they intend to use Town funds, their desire to build a Town Hall at this point in time. An engaged populace decreases the potential for shortsighted decisions and increases the opportunity for generating creative solutions to the issues the Town faces.
The Town has hired consultants to assist in educating residents and leading discussions regarding economic development of the Town Center. Please don’t let this opportunity pass you by if you care about the Carefree Town Center. We are not going to agree 100% of the time, but we must engage our educated minds, utilize critical thinking skills and participate in Town matters in order to succeed in a revitalization. Please check the Town web site weekly to find date/times for upcoming meetings. Get involved!

A Day In The Life Of A Mayor
In the dim light of an early morning MCSO received a call about a bear at a dumpster in downtown Carefree.
The on-duty MCSO deputy responded, lights and siren.
The deputy took a few pictures to document the situation. Then he noticed that the bear wasn’t moving.
That’s right; you got it. One of our fine citizens disposed of an unwanted taxidermy specimen at a “free” dumpster in the center of Carefree.
David Schwan
Mayor, Town of Carefree
(Lyn's note: Mayor Schwan thought our readers could use a bit of comic relief.)
