Celebrate your Independence!

Independence can often be related to wheels.  Peoples' Independence and mobility with a car, walker, and wheelchair is being promoted by the Caring Corps.  Imagine neighbors planning their day to revolve around finding help to meet basic needs dependent on wheels.  Wheels to get to and from you Doctor's appointments, pharmacy, grocery shopping, banking, and wheels for walking to answer the door or wheeling yourself to get out of the house , or perhaps going out for lunch.  Help your older neighbors to regain independence by volunteering through Foothills Caring Corps.  Spend two hours of your day celebrating your independence by giving independence to others.  Attend an orientation session on the second Thursday of the month to volunteer in North Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, or North Phoenix.  Celebration and gratitude for your independence could be a life changing experience for your neighbor and yourself.  Please call 480-488-1105.  Those who can, DO.  Those who can do more, VOLUNTEER.

Imagine you have just moved here with your spouse.  A lifetime dream finally realized. Your spouse has a heart attack. You are not familiar with the area but there are so many doctors and specialists to see. How do you get your spouse to the needed appointments? You can call the Foothills Caring Corps who will provide transportation to area doctors through the services provided by their many volunteers. Come be one of those volunteers who help to our neighbors live independently. Call the Foothills Caring Corps at 480-488-1105.

Create a legacy of caring - adopt a best friend for life!!!!!

Introducing  "Take Your Walk for a Dog"  by Woof Trax - a great way to stay fit, get some exercise for your dog while raising funds for Foothills!!!!

What is it and how does it work?

"Walk for a Dog" is a Smart Phone application (app) that promotes healthy pets and healthy humans while raising money to support local animal shelters.

How does it work? After you download the app onto your phone, take the phone with you when you walk your dog(s). Simply press the "start" button and the app will keep track of all your walks. For every mile you walk, a donation is made to the animal shelter of your choice.

It's easy and it's free.....

Funds are sent to participating shelters and rescues about three times per year. Donations are based on the number of people walking for an organization and the total miles walked. The amount per mile donated varies based on these factors. The last round of payments averaged about 25 cents per mile. The more walkers we can recruit the greater the benefit. So as you can see, you do not have to live in our area to participate!

You have questions? We have answers!

What's in it for the dog walker?  It's a way to keep track of your walks, encouraging you to walk more with your dog every day. That's good for your health and your dog's health. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that your walking directly benefits a shelter you already support.

What's in it for the shelter and rescue? This app promotes healthy interaction between pets and their owners. It also raises money to support the organization's mission and gives people a reason to think about their local shelter or rescue every time they take their dogs for a walk.

What if I don't have a dog?  Can I still use the App? Absolutely! You can walk for one of the dogs at a shelter or rescue by choosing the "Walk for Cassie" option after enrolling (Android only). This feature is coming to iPhone soon.

Get the App Today!
