(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included.  If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category.  We have a special section for that purpose.  Check out Tom Baker's photos for sale.  He's the photographer who took that gorgeous photo in the Carefree Gardens Photo Contest that was both the judges' first pick and the public favorite.  It's now featured on the Town of Carefree website, and will be the cover of the 2014 Gardens calendar that will be for sale later this summer at Carefree Town Hall.  If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.)  Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

Desert Foothills Chronicle Newspaper Launched Online!!

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

We would like to introduce you to the new Town Newspaper: Desert Foothills Chronicle. Cave Creek and Carefree have gone a long time without a local newspaper that will reflect all sides, all citizens, and all viewpoints. Our strongest element will be the Editorial pages, giving you, the Reader, an opportunity to dialogue on issues with your neighbors, without being punished by the editorial staff for a difference of opinion. While we are moving ahead to a newsprint paper, we loved the concept of the endless pages for Letters to the Editor that our website can offer you.

We are a nonprofit organization created by and prepared by your neighbors, as volunteers. To the extent that we have an operating profit, we will roll that excess back into the Community: back to our charities and nonprofits that do so much for so many. We soon expect to produce a weekly newsprint paper, to qualify ultimately as an ACC approved newspaper.

We see our initial goal is to help our merchants get back on their feet. By doing so, jobs for our citizens will be created. Diversity of shopping and recreation will be encouraged. The Arts will thrive!

To get the ball rolling on town revitalization, we are offering our merchants free banner ads on our website on the NEWS and OPINION pages for a limited time period. We also have a special page dedicated to listing all of our ADVERTISERS. You send the banner (or have us pull it from your website); we will include it (See the ABOUT US page for banner sizes).

Thank you and we look forward to a long partnership with the citizens and merchants of Cave Creek and Carefree!  We've just added a Sign-up form at the bottom of the About Us page.  The website is www.desertfoothillschronicle.org

Check out our first weekly edition by clicking here.

Sara Vannucci, Editor

(Lyn's note: The Chronicle will be publishing online every Wednesday.  The second edition was published yesterday.  Check it out.  Good job, Sara & Co.!  Thanks for providing a much needed service to our local community.)

Hi folks,  Paul Harvey said "and now the rest of the story."     Please for your consideration-- how wonderful it could be to have an editor who prints "balanced" stories.    Stories of truth and with integrity.    We have a phone booth and a Clark Kent for some time now.   I wish the Desert Foothills Chronicle "the Chronicle" great success!

Anna

Lyn,

Some natural footpaths for all the resident walkers would be nice too, especially along the Sidewinder Speedway, so we don't have to play 'dodge em.'

   Rita Hahn

(Lyn's note: The framework study grant, which was the initial one, addresses sidewalks, but only along the arterial streets.  The most recent one is solely for bike lanes.  Since both are provided by the MAG and ADOT, only arterial streets but not residential ones cannot be addressed in these studies.)
