As published in COINS: "Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation training is available at our firehouse and is free for citizens of Carefree. (The cost is $25 for non-residents.) CPR training also includes training to use an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED). CPR and an AED saved a person's life at a Town Council Meeting. Everyone is encouraged to become familiar with CPR and AED. Training is scheduled as demand requires. You can get information about CPR and AED training by calling (480) 488-0347 or by stopping at the firehouse at Tom Darlington and Lucky Lane, downtown."

(Lyn's note: After the incident during the Council meeting, Herbert, who had not performed CPR since Internship, 1982-83, took the course at our fire station and got his full ACLS certification, which is the one for physicians, and bought an AED device for his office. He was beyond impressed by all that transpired that evening in the Council chambers. Rural/Metro is doing a fabulous public service by making the CPR course available to our citizens. Thanks, R/M!)

Thanks, Lyn, for your continued timely and excellent updates. Concerning the gardens, I have a suggestion which I'm sure the Mayor, Staff, and Council have thought of and I would just like to add a special emphasis. I've known Mark and Juanita Wdowiak for many years and they are not only outstanding in their business, they are simply great people who have given so much back to our community. As you have previously reported, they donated the landscaping for the fire station and the library, in addition to many other contributions, and I would like to see our town really go all out and host a special event in the town center to honor them and show our appreciation for this extraordinary gift which is turning into a magnificent work of art and will have very long term tangible benefits for our town. We could time it to also include the Sundial refurbishing. Every business in Carefree should be anxious to support this and, with the recent return to a competent and very promising town council, it could be a wonderful coming together of the community and opportunity to celebrate our very special town.

Taking care of business; the downtown continues to excel. I know of precious few town centers that meet the appeal of Carefree's.
