Hi Lyn!
Thx for sending! You're such a doll and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness!!
I'm on this committee again this year and we've been organizing and preparing for our big event! And, of course, it's delightful to have the city's backing and cooperation. We couldn't do it without their support! We're hoping to make it a big event for Carefree! It should be a lot of fun and I'm hoping to ride in my heels to raise money for the cause.
Well, Lyn! I truly haven't forgotten about meeting up with you. I know it will be a blast when we do! I've just been in and out of town so much, I hardly know where I live! Ha!
Last week, I was in a study for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The week before I was invited to speak at an advocate training session in LA which was fun and exhausting! I will hopefully be in town for awhile.
So, watch out, girl. I'm going to be tracking you down for some fun! Lol
Best always!
Patti
When you trip in life ~ make it a part of your dance!
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." Leo Buscaglia
(Lyn's note: Patti Meese was featured in a previous Carefree Truth when she spoke representing the Parkinson's event committee that is organizing the Carefree Parkinson's Octoberfest. She is a Parkinson's patient who has been greatly aided by the treatments, and she is very involved with fundraising for Parkinson's. She's an amazing lady!)
Hi, Lyn!
How fantastic of you! Just wish I would have sounded more eloquent! I'm delighted that you added Leo B's quote. It's always been one of my FAVEs! I love the Swedish proverb at the end of yours. Because it reminded me of the Tremble Clefs I thought you might be interested in watching our video if you have a chance. We will be singing at the Octoberfest again this year. I've also added a photo of me and our Director Sun Joo Lee from last Year's event. Thought you might get a giggle out of it.
Make it a great day and thanks for all you do.
Patti
(Lyn's note: I told Patti I was including her letter, above, in CFT Letters from Readers, and told her I'd added the quote at the end to my list of quotes. This was her response. I watched the video and it is wonderful.)

Dear Lyn, it is people like you that makes this the best city in Arizona to live in. I don't know how I can ever thank than you enough for what you have done for me personally. I've had the best life a man could ever have between NASA and The U.S. Marines and my days in the Space Program. Married to Martha over 40 years and my fine children and grandchildren plus even a great grandfather for over a year now. I've lived my life so the Lord who's always had a place in my heart can take me. I can't leave out all that friends have done for us by preparing food and bringing it to the house. I can still be part of our Desert Hills Presbyterian Church next to the Boulders. Steve and Amy woods added a lot to my computer so I can be in my home office and see and hear all that is being said, and I can speak to them and as I see them. They can all see me or hear me too. I may be old but these new things are fantastic to me yet today. Then friends like Glenn Miller came up and hung my flag. I know you made that happen Lyn, so thanks Hon and always know how much I appreciate that.
Love to my great friend,
Blaine F. Keith
I hope your readers enjoyed reading, as much as I did, about Gilbert Lopez "Former Cave Creek council member earned stripes in Air Force" which was printed in the July 18 issue of the Foothills Focus.
Recently we have endured and heard much about freedoms from dissident groups all over our Country. In celebrating our Independence Day, I reflected seriously about the promises and the pitfalls of Freedom and the men and women like Mr. Lopez to whom we owe our Freedoms.
Freedom! What is it?
Freedom to have a say in government? Freedom to do what I want to do? Freedom to have no government? Freedom to take what other people are unable to keep me from getting? Freedom to travel where I want using whatever means I want? Freedom to act in a way that may be dangerous to myself or others? Freedom to take more for myself than others can have? Freedom to buy what I need? Freedom to buy more than I need? Freedom to use more than I need? Freedom to use for myself what others need? Freedom to blame? Freedom to enslave? Freedom to misrepresent the truth for my own ends? Freedom to hurt or kill?
Unless it is tied to personal responsibility and the concept of the brotherhood of mankind, Freedom can be dangerous. Is it possible to have freedom without responsibility?
What is responsibility?
To tell the truth. To keep informed. To make accurate judgements about information. To live in harmony with my neighbors. To understand other people on the planet. To live in harmony with the planet. To accept the same freedoms for others that I covet for myself. To accept the equality and worth of all peoples. To bring no harm to other people. To leave this "campground" ( our planet) better than we found it.
Freedom that is synonymous with greed will destroy us as a society. But Freedom closely aligned with responsibility can be our salvation.
