CAREFREE TRUTH
Letters from Readers: 9/6/12
Your readers may be interested in the white markings on many of Carefree’s streets.
Several weeks ago Regional Pavement Maintenance, an Arizona firm, began a $1,000,000 project to maintain our roadways.
The white markings on the streets direct the workers about specific work that is to be done and where to do it. For example, a white box with “RR” tells the workers to “Remove and Replace” a section of deteriorated pavement.
Work in Town Center is mostly complete and the workers are now in the Velvet Shadows HOA east of Pima road. The entire project should be completed by the end of October, 2012.
Detailed information about the roadway maintenance project is available on Carefree’s website at www.Carefree.org. Please call Town Hall at 480 488-3686 if you have any questions about the roadway maintenance project.
Please drive slowly and safely to protect the people who are working to serve you.
Mayor David Schwan
Town of Carefree

Hi Lyn—GREAT JOB with the calendar! Many thanks.
Marilyn Maloney
(Lyn's note: The 2013 calendar to which Marilyn refers is the one created with photos submitted for the 2012 Carefree Desert Gardens Photo Contest. We had many gorgeous entries and the calendars, which were printed by The UPS Store in the Carefree Basha's center, are fabulous. They are for sale at Carefree Town Hall, located opposite the Sundial, and cost $16.55 including tax. If you would like one or more calendars, make your check out to the Town of Carefree. Cash works too! All proceeds go into the Town marketing fund. The Photo Contest is an annual event, and photos may be taken at any time of year, so while you are enjoying the Gardens remember to take your camera. Entry dates will be January 2nd-February 2nd, 2013. Prizes are donated by our local merchants.)
Thanks Lyn. This was an outstanding "Carefree Truth Letter" and sounds like you got a lot of help from friends as I was reading it. Tell Herbie his Blue Moon was great.
Lots of love to a great friend.

(Lyn's note: 1. Thank you to Mayor Schwan for elaborating on paying off the debt. Those were good questions from Bob Brenner.
2. My husband took some amazing pictures of the "blue moon" rising over Black Mountain the other night, and I had emailed them to a few good friends. One of them, along with some gorgeous sunsets and some neat quail photos he took, are being printed on canvas wraps by the UPS Store in the Carefree Basha's center and will be for sale at the Wild Holly Gallery, located on Easy Street. The money from the sales will go to Foothills Animal Rescue. Holly Bergman, owner of the gallery, is the current president of FAR. The canvases will all be one of a kind.)

Patty Meese
(Lyn's note: Patty is the Parkinson's patient who spoke to the Council. She has participated in a program that helped her tremendously, and is very involved now with educating people about Parkinson's, and advocating for Parkinson's patients. She will be riding her bike in this event, wearing her high heeled shoes. I don't have Parkinson's, and I couldn't do that! You go, girl! Patty and I have bonded over cute shoes. She's a gem.)
