CAREFREE TRUTH
CAREFREE TRUTH
Letters from Readers: 7/28/10
Lyn, there had been an absence of the "Truth" for awhile and I was worried that we had run out of it (the Truth).
So, I was pleased to see some more evidence of the Truth show up today. It is in very short supply . . . locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Plus, sometimes we do not recognize it when we do see it.
Keep blogging!
John Blair
Looks like good numbers on the balance sheet. Maybe other governments should follow your example. Hopefully.

Agreed! We need more Truth! I'm disturbed that Bob Coady in Carefree Matters always presents the town's financial information in the worst possible light. He carefully chooses which details to report to his readers so that they get a badly distorted view of the town's real financial situation. I recognize that he has absolutely no experience in management, finance, budget-planning, etc., and probably hasn't any understanding of how well Carefree is doing in comparison to other municipalities. However, his comments as a Council member are consistently negative and critical, leading me to conclude that his so-called reports are merely early campaign material.
I'm also concerned about Coady's "public opinion polls." If he merely wanted feedback from his constituents about issues, that would be fine. Unfortunately, he tends to frame his questions in such a way that they are not objective, and he poses the questions in his badly biased website. Only he sees the responses. Then he presents whatever he concludes from this completely non-objective "poll" to support his opinions during Council meetings. In my opinion, bad information is worse than no information. Again, I realize Bob Coady has absolutely no education or work experience that would qualify him to construct or interpret a reasonable public opinion poll.

Really, this is yet another chapter in what has become Carefree's perennial conundrum. Do the members of the Darth Vader faction (of Cave Creek and their Carefree minions) not have real jobs and families to support? Where in the world do they get the time to wait and see if a penny can really derail the train?
EVERYBODY... vote for the proper language in the corrected initiative and leave the nightmarish stupidity of endless challenges behind. This ain't rocket science you know.
P.S. Your contribution to stable local government is appreciated by most of us out here, no doubt. Keep up the good work.

Lyn,
My opinion is that as we drive the loop from our area, thru Cave Creek and then down Tom Darlington there are frequent speed changes.
We go from 30 in Cave Creek, to 25 as we come into Carefree, then 25 beginning Tom Darlington---until it isn't any longer and becomes 35!
Let's have at least 30 mph!
Tom Surrency
The study was absolutely correct; people do not obey speed limits that are artificially low (and usually set by politicians and or 'interested groups'; i.e.: businesses, home owners, etc., etc. And generally cops don't, won't or have a serious problem trying to enforce these bogus limits - which they know aren't right either. My thoughts.

Lyn,
Suggestions for traffic safety are welcome, including trimming the medians.

John Traynor's letter in the most recent Sonoran News follows his long pattern of snarky criticism of everyone in government, now and in the past. In this particular letter, Traynor clams membership in the "Pissed Off Party." Readers should be informed that nothing in his letter was original to Mr. Traynor; every word was plagiarized from internet websites. Traynor has no new ideas to share, and never anything positive or constructive to say. His political activity is limited to the "Whine and Cheese" party.
