CAREFREE TRUTH
CAREFREE TRUTH
Letters from Readers: 5/19/10
Does the erudite Mr. Coady, with his highly cultivated and enlightened brainpower, use a cell phone? Why isn't he worried about it, and warning the public regarding the proximity of radiation to one's head whenever a person uses a cell phone?? And other than alarmist and suggestive National Enquirer articles, I wonder, if such an important revelation, why his "research" isn't made public, or at least annotated for ease of reference by others?

Lyn, from time to time I have provided some support to the Town regarding the DAS initiative. While not an expert in anything, my contribution has been to provide a few questions for Newpath that are to be addressed in the contracts with Carefree. I was interested in the sources of Bob Coady's statement to the effect that "the research he has seen gives him concern" quoted in a Scottsdale Republic newspaper article. I asked him about the sources and then looked up material. My findings are attached. Note the source of the material. One might expect this group to step quickly past the findings that the DAS radiation is <2% of the levels capable of harm.
One other fragment I found as I was shaking the bushes regarding the towers and their radiation: hearing aids often produce more radiation in the frequencies of concern than the towers. And then there is that most vicious cause of cancer in Arizona . . . the sun.
Cell Tower Health Risks (Bob Coady reference to troubling research)
You can also read an article in the March 18th Time Magazine.
The second reference was to March 18 Time magazine. There is no March 18, 2010 Time Magazine issue, only March 15 and March 22.

(Lyn's note: This website peddles vague alarmist "information", using sensationalist fear tactics to prey on the ignorant . No names or scientific studies are specified. And none of the info relates to the newer DAS towers, which produce much lower rates of RF than the larger towers.)
It is clear that you do not subscribe to the tin foil hat brigade! YEA!!!! Cell towers, fluoride, white bread, and gawd knows what else are inventions of the commies to fry our brains, don't cha know!! Very well written and concise.

Councilman Coady stated at the June 4th Council meeting that he had done some research on the effects of Electromagnetic Radiation and the findings were, “very disturbing, to say the least”.
Below are references from recognized scientific world organizations.
The World Health Organization, based upon the consensus view of the scientific and medical communities, has stated in the past that cancer is unlikely to be caused by cellular phones or their base stations and that reviews have found no convincing evidence for other health effects.
European Commission Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR). It concludes that the three lines of evidence, viz. animal, in vitro, and epidemiological studies, indicate that "exposure to RF fields is unlikely to lead to an increase in cancer in humans."
Current scientific evidence indicates that exposure to RF fields, such as those emitted by mobile phones and their base stations, is unlikely to induce or promote cancers.
Field intensities drop rapidly with distance away from the base of the antenna because of the attenuation of power with the square of distance. Mr Coady, that means that at 2 feet it's one forth the energy level and at 4 feet it's one sixteenth the energy level. This is the reason for having many cell towers. Due to their low level energy of transmission, they do not go great distances. It also means the pubic is receiving very low levels of EM radiation. As stated by the New Path presenter, many house hold items deliver more EM radiation.
The greater risk to the pubic health from cell phones is people driving and talking.
Research has clearly shown an increased risk of traffic accidents, some 3-4 times greater chance of an accident, when mobile phones (either handheld or with a "hands-free" kit) are used while driving.
Mr. Coady, what I find very disturbing, to say the least, is that you seem to have sought out inflammatory fringe element sources for your "research" and/or you completely lack understanding of any credible scientific information available to you.

That brain dead moron is illiterate . I think, between YOUR VIEW SUE & SAINT COADY, their IQ doesn't go over 90. I'm continually stunned at his erroneous statements. Who the Hell listens to these people?
