(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included. If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category. We have a special section for that purpose, and have just added some art as well. Check out Tom Baker's photos for sale. He's the photographer who took that gorgeous photo in the Carefree Gardens Photo Contest that was both the judges' first pick and the public favorite. It's now featured on the Town of Carefree website, and will be the cover of the 2014 Gardens calendar that will be for sale later this summer at Carefree Town Hall. If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.) Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

Dear Ms. Hitchon:
Jo Gemmill, owner of the Carefree English Rose Tea Room, is hosting a fundraising event this Friday, February 7, to benefit the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Campaign.
I know she has information posted about it on her Facebook page.
Friday is National Go Wear Red Day, so people all across the USA are supposed to wear red, so that attention is paid to the fact that Heart Disease is the # 1 cause of death of women...every 60 seconds, one woman dies of heart disease.
Friday is also the 10th anniversary of this campaign, and the Little Red Dress, symbol of the campaign, will be available for purchase for a donation of $ 5.00.
The Tea Room is hosting a luncheon, the menu has been adapted for heart-healthy attributes, red corvettes will be parked outside, and red balloons everywhere. There will be a volunteer guest speaker (me), talking about Women's Heart Health.
I know this is terribly short notice, but is there any way you can tap into the Facebook page's ad for this event and send it out to your subscribers?
Many thanks for your consideration!
Most sincerely,
Heidi Bonneau, RN, MS, CCA

Celebrate Author's Month!
Invitation to Write
February 1, 2014
Hello again Museum Friends and Supporters!
As you may know February is Author's Month at the Museum. We hope that many of you will attend one of our four scheduled talks including this afternoon with Patrick Grady.
And to help celebrate and promote Author's Month we thought it might be fun and interesting to invite you to become an author too!
Do you have a story from the past that you would like to share? Your story can be about a person, family, event, incident, building, or relic, to name just a few ideas.
How much should you write? If you have a newsletter handy, you can get an idea of what works. The maximum length should be no more than one page (assume MS Word, 12 pt font for reference).
We will post stories on our website after February 15 and notify you when they are available. If you would like to include a photo, please insert the following sentence(s) in your email. "You have my permission to post the attached photo." And if you know the name of the photographer, also add this sentence. "This photo was taken by (insert name)."
The Museum will review all submissions and determine which get posted. The Museum reserves the right to make minor edits.
Be sure to let us know if you'd like to remain anonymous.
Please send us your stories by February 15th. Email them to info@cavecreekmuseum.com.
In closing, we hope that you have some fun with Author's Month either by attending a talk, or by becoming an author yourself, or both!
Thank you!
As you know, there are many ways to support the Museum. Bring a friend, relative or visitor to the Museum. Attend an event, become a volunteer or make a donation.
Cave Creek Museum is proud to preserve the history of the Desert Foothills.
