(Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included.  If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category.  We have a special section for that purpose, and have just added some art as well.  Check out Tom Baker's photos for sale.  He's the photographer who took that gorgeous photo in the Carefree Gardens Photo Contest that was both the judges' first pick and the public favorite.  It's now featured on the Town of Carefree website, and will be the cover of the 2014 Gardens calendar that will be for sale later this summer at Carefree Town Hall.  If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations.)  Here's the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

This notice is on the Cave Creek Town web site, but for those who don’t view it this might be helpful: “Milling and paving of Cave Creek Road, south from Carefree Highway to the Town border, and on Carefree Highway west from Cave Creek Road will begin on Monday, July 21st and is expected to be completed by Friday, August 1st. Please be prepared for lane closures all directions and traffic delays during this needed road improvement project.”

IT SEEMS KIND OF STRANGE, I HAVE NOT BEEN WITHOUT WATER ANY OF THESE TIMES.. I'M NOT COMPLAINING.  IF YOU DIDN'T SEND OUT EMAILS RE: THIS PROBLEM I WOULD NOT KNOW THERE WAS A WATER SHORTAGE.  THANK YOU LYN. AS USUAL, YOU REALLY KEEP US INFORMED AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE.   DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WOULD DO WITHOUT YOU.  AGAIN THANKS.

Hi Lyn,

Thank you so much for sending along our request. It would be really wonderful to have a Splashpad in Carefree! Hope you had a wonderful July 4th weekend.

Carla L.

Carefree has applied for grants from several organizations for a splash pad. The question is, “Will we get sufficient funding via grants to proceed?” Carefree Town council is considering several ideas to make our Town Center more attractive to people and a splash pad is one of those ideas. At The Council meeting tonight (7/1) we’ll hear a presentation concerning a performing arts/community center that would include classes for children in performing arts.

You might want to subscribe to COINS, our email newsletter. Go to www.carefree.org and sign up for information about Carefree.

Thanks for your interest,

Mayor David Schwan

All good reasons why we have been discussing a splash pad.  We need people like her to attend the Council meetings so when someone says what is the ROI, or they bring bag lunches she/they can stand up and express their opinions rather than a Council member or a naysayer placing words in their mouths.

Gary Neiss, Town Administrator

VERY nice job on the video, Lyn--and please convey my thanks to Herbert as well.

Thanks for your early support of the concept. It will of course be a long road, and your continued support, and input as two of Carefree's most concerned citizens, will be essential as we seek to bring performing arts to the heart of Carefree.

Best,

Peter Strupp

Great job Lyn! Thanks to you and Herbie for covering this meeting so well, in addition to everything else you do for our community.

Phyllis Strupp

5 year residents very interested in the Performing Arts Center.  It is exactly the lynch pin that Carefree needs.
